DR. DAVE WATKINS

Dr. Dave Watkins brings a distinctive combination of artistry, education, and compassion to his dental practice. His path to dentistry began with a deep appreciation for art and design, which continues to influence his approach to creating beautiful, natural smiles.

Dr. Watkins earned his bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Centre College in 1996, specializing in glass and ceramics. His passion for creativity and teaching led him to pursue a Master of Education from the University of Louisville in 1999. He then spent six rewarding years as an art teacher in the Jefferson County Public School System, inspiring students to explore their own artistic talents.

It was during this time that Dr. Watkins discovered the connection between art and dentistry. After watching an episode of “Extreme Makeover,” he was struck by how transformative a confident, healthy smile could be — not just for one’s appearance, but for their overall sense of self. Motivated by this realization, he made the bold decision to change careers and pursue dentistry as a new way to help others.

Dr. Watkins returned to the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 2009. Today, he combines his artistic precision with advanced dental techniques to help patients achieve smiles that are both functional and beautiful. His philosophy centers on personalized, aesthetic, and compassionate care, with a commitment to helping every patient look and feel their very best.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Watkins enjoys spending time with his family. His wife, Victoria, is a French teacher at Atherton High School, and together they have two children — Madison and Luke.
