3 Amazing Benefits of Invisalign

Natural Smiles • Jan 25, 2018

A few crooked teeth can make your smile unattractive and lower your self-esteem. Our Louisville Ky dental office sees patients regularly who are living with bad teeth or cosmetic dental issues. Dental problems like misaligned teeth are sometimes embarrassing and make it harder to kept your mouth clean.
Invisalign has become a premier dental treatment that has helped millions of people straighten their teeth.
At Natural Smiles, we’re using Invisalign because it works great, it’s subtle, and our patients find it easy to use. Invisalign is constantly evolving and can treat a number of mild to moderate alignment issues. Today we want to cover a few benefits of Invisalign. You may know some of these benefits, but others might be less obvious to you. So, here are 3 ways Invisalign can benefit your smile.

1. Invisalign is virtually invisible
We’ll list this first because it’s the most obvious benefit of Invisalign. The trays are clear. For years, orthodontic treatment went hand-in-hand with metal braces. Metal braces — or even ceramic braces — stick out like a sore thumb. Plus, everyone knows that you’re fixing your teeth. Invisalign is totally different. There is no metal that can rub on your cheeks or lips, and the trays are made from clear plastic. It’s not usual for people with Invisalign to go throughout their entire treatment without being asking about it. You’ll never have to field questions like, “Oh, how long do you have to wear those braces?” Or “So, what’s it like to have braces?” The invisible nature of the treatment makes it subtle.

2. Invisalign is removable
The biggest complaint about braces is the inability to remove them yourselves. Of course, for many orthodontists and dentists, this great news, as it keeps the treatment right on schedule. If the patient can’t remove the braces, then they have to follow the treatment plan. But many of those who need orthodontics are adults who can certainly be trusted to oversee their treatment. Instead of any fixed brackets or wires, Invisalign uses a series of removable aligners. In fact, there is nothing fixed to your teeth. Each set of aligners gets you closer to that straighten, beautiful smile.
Because the aligners are removable, you can take them off whenever you eat or clean your teeth. You no longer have to brush around obstructions on your teeth or eliminate foods from your diet. People with braces have to avoid a ton of different foods that could get struck in their braces. With Invisalign, you can eat whatever you want.

3. Invisalign is a short-term treatment
Not only is Invisalign removable, but it’s also shorter than traditional orthodontics. Braces often take more than two years, whereas Invisalign can be completed in about 12 to 18 months.
The reason for the shorter treatment time is because Invisalign is not meant for serious dental problems. But not everyone needs extensive orthodontic treatment. There are many of us who simply have a few mildly crooked teeth or mild alignment issues, For those patients, Invisalign can help.
Invisalign is easy to use and often does not have the discomfort of metal braces. At Natural Smiles, we’re Invisalign Preferred Providers, which means we successfully complete dozens of Invisalign cases every year. The entire treatment is quite simple.

Start Your Invisalign Treatment
If we determine Invisalign can help your smile, we’ll start by taking a few X-rays and impressions so we can make a 3-D mockup of your mouth. We’ll then send off the impressions so Invisalign can develop your trays. After you’re fitted with the first Invisalign tray, you’ll only need to visit us once every few weeks so we can make sure your treatment is on schedule.
Our patients find that Invisalign is easy to live with. The treatment works fast, and best of all, it’s totally discreet. If you’re ready for your in-depth consultation, give us a call today at 502-912-9624. Or use our online form to request a visit.
